Ross's L-sit.

ANNOUNCING A SPECIAL ASSISTANT COACH FOR TODAY'S WOD!  Rowing Coach, Laura Thornhill, will be assisting some of our classes today with the rowing skill work.

WOD for Thursday

Rowing Drills- Coach's Choice

Team Rowing Workout (Teams of 3): Each partner completes 2 rounds of the following:

Partner 1: Row 1000m

Partner 2: AMRAP Turkish Get-ups while Partner 1 Rows

Partner 3: Rest

WOD suggestion is to flip the monitors over so no one can see his/her meters or splits during the workout.  Here's the rationale: the day is focused totally on form and focusing on soley your numbers on the monitors may not reinforce form/efficiencty.  People are soo focused on getting their split as low as possible, and are more likely to burn out particularly for sets anything more than 250 meters.  For the WOD, we'll have one team member watching their meters so they know when they're done and there's still motivation to go as fast as you can, but then you can focus totally on form and learning what your bodies can maintain for 1,000m (or whatever distance we decide on)--not what numbers. Once you figure out what you can maintain physically, the efficiency, capacity, and numbers will follow. -Laura Thornhill

No idea on the time for the row, but I will say that flipping back the monitors definitely made me more consistent and less anxious about just getting it done. I also suspect that my splits were lower than usual...thanks for the tips Laura!

TGU: 13(?) - 11, with 25#

Row: Did not keep track was very focused on keeping form, really hard to maintain when breaking down.

Turkish getups: I have no idea how to do those but whatever kind of getups I ended up doing it was around 12 rounds total

Darn it, Rasha, you lived in Turkey. You should know how to get up like people do over there!
