Chris "Tex" McQuilkin

Originally from Houston, Texas, I moved to the DC area to play lacrosse for Marymount University. As a three year captain of the team, leadership came naturally to me and I did what I could to make the team competitive. In the process, I discovered a love for fitness and educating others of its benefits. After a successful undergraduate career as a player and a Health Sciences major, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Health Promotion Management and gain a better understanding of behavior change.

As a graduate student, I obtained my Crossfit Level 1 Certification which opened up a new world of fitness. Over the passed two years I have worked as the Strength and Conditioning and Assistant Men’s Lacrosse coach for Marymount University. This position inspired me to pursue other Crossfit Certifications including Crossfit Football Strength and Conditioning and Crossfit Kettlebell Instructor. I have recently graduated from graduate school from Marymount with a Master's in Health Promotion Management and have become a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), focusing in behavior change.

Training to me begins with education and ends with self sufficiency. I consider myself more of a coach and a teacher than a trainer. My goal is for clients to gain an understanding of what you’re doing and why. It is also my priority to improve their quality of life, and to get you better at doing the things that you enjoy in life.

Tex coaches primarily at our CrossFit Dupont location.
