Greg Ryan

Greg is a CrossFit coach and practitioner with a vast array of athletic and professional experience. He joins the CrossFit Balance team after serving as the head of human performance at the U.S. Marine Corps Special Operations Command where he assisted in the creation of a professional level strength, conditioning and rehabilitation program for special operations personnel. He is a former CrossFit affiliate founder and owner where he worked with athletes from diverse fitness backgrounds and gained an enthusiasm and appreciation for introducing newcomers to CrossFit's methodology.

Athletically, Greg competed as a NCAA Ice Hockey player and gravitated toward endurance sports as an adult. He completed a variety of endurance races from local 5Ks and triathlons to ultra-distance runs and adventure races. Notably, he completed the Marathon Des Sables – a 152 mile stage race in the Sahara Desert – and the Grindstone 100 mile endurance run.

Greg is a CrossFit Level 2 Coach, Russian Kettlebell Challenge Instructor, USA Weightlifting Club Coach, and has completed the CrossFit Endurance, Barbell, and Kid's certifications. He has degrees in exercise physiology and finance and is currently studying business administration at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
